Version 3, 23 October 2026
1. About these terms
PrepNow is provided free by Sean Lawson, an individual in the UK ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you use PrepNow at prepnow.co.uk, including when you add it to your phone's Home Screen. By creating an account or using the practice household, you accept them. Contact: hello@prepnow.co.uk.
2. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over to have an account. Children can be counted in a household's prep box, but they don't get logins. Use your own email address and one account per person.
3. Your account
Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, use "Sign out other phones" in Household and tell us.
4. Households
The person who creates a household is its admin. Admins invite and remove members, change roles, and connect services such as Home Assistant. Everyone in a household shares one stockpile and can see each other's names and entries, so only invite people you trust. An admin is responsible for who they invite.
5. Using PrepNow fairly
- Don't put anything illegal, abusive or offensive in names, items or lists.
- Don't use PrepNow to harass anyone.
- Don't try to reach another household's data, get round limits, overload the service, or copy it with automated tools.
To report misuse or anything illegal, email hello@prepnow.co.uk. We'll look into it and may remove content or close accounts.
6. Dates, food safety and prep advice
- Dates and amounts are the ones you and your household enter. PrepNow can't check them. Always check the pack: never eat food past its use-by date, and check anything past its best-before date before eating it.
- Alerts depend on your phone, browser and email working. They may arrive late or not at all, so don't rely on them alone.
- Prep box plans are general guidance based on UK emergency-prep advice. They're not medical or dietary advice and they don't account for allergies, intolerances or health conditions. For babies, follow the instructions on the formula and your health visitor's advice.
- Product details from Open Food Facts, including allergens, can be wrong or out of date.
7. The practice household
"Try it without an account" opens a household of example data. Don't enter personal details there. It's removed automatically within a day, or straight away when you choose "Leave the practice household", and is never turned into a real account. Alerts, invites and connected services are switched off.
8. Connected services
Home Assistant, Google Tasks and Apple Shortcuts have their own terms. You're responsible for those accounts and any access tokens you give PrepNow, and you can disconnect them at any time. We can't control whether those services are available.
9. The service
PrepNow is free for now. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you first, and nothing will be charged without you choosing it. We may change, pause or stop PrepNow. If we plan to close it, we'll give you reasonable notice by email or in PrepNow, and time to get a copy of your data.
10. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected.
Apart from that, because PrepNow is free and depends on information you enter, we aren't responsible for food that spoils or is thrown away, for decisions you make using PrepNow, or for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen.
11. Closing an account
You can delete your account at any time in Household, under "Delete my account". If you're the only admin and others are still in the household, make one of them an admin first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why where we reasonably can. What happens to your data is set out in the privacy note.
12. Your data and our work
What you enter stays yours. You let us store it and show it to your household so PrepNow can work. PrepNow's design and code belong to us. Third-party parts are used under their own licences (see About).
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in PrepNow or by email before the change takes effect. The version date is at the top.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you have a complaint, email us first and we'll try to sort it out. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
